The day of the Lord offers a special program for summer 2022. Documentary collection, open-air masses, series, literary chronicles… From July 10 to August 28, discover rich programs to “contemplate and act”. Nice summer with The day of the Lord !

The documentary collection Contemplate and act »

Each 26-minute documentary explores the trajectory of singular figures or inspiring communities. The genius architect Antonio Gaudí; Catholic activist Dorothy Day; Father Robert Chave, historical figure of the Avignon Festival; Saint Charles de Foucauld, canonized May 15; Marie Noël, poetess; Pope Francis and his intimate relationship with Saint Francis of Assisi; Georges Bernanos, writer of the spiritual combat between Good and Evil. Two communities are also honored in this collection for having combined contemplation and action in a very particular harmony: that of the Benedictine monks of the Sainte-Marie de la Pierre-qui-Vire abbey in the Morvan in Burgundy, and that of the great Christian scientists who went in search of God in space.

  • Gaudi, the faith of the master by Julien Leloup

  • In the Footsteps of Dorothy Day by Agnès Ravoyard and Virginie Berda

  • Père Chave, my life at the Avignon Festival by Florine Clap

  • To the end of himself, Charles de Foucauld (1858-1916) by Claire Jeanteur

  • The visible and the invisible by Valerie Manns

  • The attraction of the invisible by Jean-Yves Fischbach

  • Marie Noël 1883-1967 – Always loving, portrait of a soul by Marie Viloin

  • Brother(s) Francis, a Pope on the journey with Saint Francis of Assisi by Jean-Yves Fischbach

  • Bernanos worked by grace by Marie Viloin

“It is customary to want to oppose contemplation and action, those who meditate and those who act, those who focus on the mind and those who ‘do’ with their hands. This documentary collection offers a change of perspective, a displacement. Not an opposition, but an articulation, to show the incessant coming and going of what is invisible and what gives itself to be seen, at the heart of the same existence. In an era where the question of the meaning of life and the way to respond to it in the world is being posed with renewed acuity, this collection offers an opportunity for reflection and inspiration. An invitation to contemplate… and to act. »
Fr. Thierry Hubert, producer of Le Jour du Seigneur

Open-air masses

After the documentaries, seven parishes in the four corners of France are hosting open-air masses to bring a summer breath. From the Pointe des Crolles in Cancale to Lake Osséja on the Franco-Spanish border, passing through the east of France in Molsheim and the great west to the island of Noirmoutier, the communities of these remarkable places celebrate the Masses of the Lord’s Day every Sunday and for the Feast of the Assumption, August 15 at Notre-Dame-de-l’Assomption in Étretat.

The Literary Chronicles of the Inner Freedom Prize

Constance de Bonnaventure offers her traditional literary chronicles. Each week, starting July 24, she will present one of the 7 books selected for the 5th edition of the Inner Freedom Prize, awarded by Le Jour du Seigneur on September 11.
Chronicles to be found also in replay on lejourduseigneur.com and on the Facebook page of Jour du Seigneur, the day after the broadcast on France 2.
Each week, RCF and Ouest-France, partners of the Prize, will offer their column on the same book: the opportunity to discover another look at these works.

The pillars of Notre-Dame, the series at the heart of the cathedral construction site

The Pillars of Notre-Dame returns with a second season of nine episodes.
This successful series highlights the fascinating work of the actors of the Notre-Dame construction site. In a short and educational format, each episode paints the portrait of a craftsman or specialist who puts his passion at the service of the cathedral construction site. Constance de Bonnaventure and Sébastien Lerigoleur are once again at the helm of this production, which includes videos and animated drawings.

“For this new season, the series gives pride of place to the restoration of the cathedral, which begins just after securing the site. Thus, the episodes will shed more light on artistic and restoration professions: stonemason, master glassmaker, restorer of the case of the great organ of Notre-Dame but also specialist in liturgical arrangement… a unique way to enter behind the scenes of the renovation, still in its infancy. »
Constance de Bonnaventure, author and director

Shrine(s) season 3: discovering high places of pilgrimage

From September 12, this European itinerary will unfold in two other countries: four episodes will reveal all the beauty of sanctuaries in Italy and Germany, to celebrate European Heritage Days on September 17 and 18, 2022.
