Care: in theatre, creating a fertile territory like a garden…

LibéCARE. Think health tomorrowcase

It is now impossible for us to project ourselves without taking into account health crises. And art cannot be overlooked.

How to take good care of yourself, live well, age well? Come to Caen on December 9 and 10 at the MoHo with LibéCare to debate with doctors, intellectuals and experts. While waiting for the event, carried out in partnership with the Normandy region, MGEN and ADMD, Release will publish in a dedicated space articles, forums and testimonials.

Within A whole sky, the company I founded, I want to create a fertile territory like a garden, from the paths of “care”. Theater serves to embody thought, to bring together the spiritual, emotional and intellectual fields, and it is this imagined territory that I intend to share with audiences. An approach resolutely turned towards the implication of the amateurs on the plate, towards the subjects which annoy, an approach which lets speak the sensitive ones. Bringing back the fragile in working people who, head in the handlebars, pass too quickly over childhood and turn their eyes away from the elders. A way to pull the handbrake and use the slow, precious and vain time of the theater for what it has been since Antiquity: a tool for thinking about the vast incomprehensible world. Together, actors, amateurs, experts, non-experts, questioning the super-trends of our civilization that we see passing over our heads: the loss of the link, the cancellation of human intelligence in artificial intelligence, the quantification of all actions. We look up to the sky and see an arc of decisions that are beyond us and act without our having any control over them. Putting them into play is a way of appropriating this precious time which is ours, our unique and wild life.

Covid-19 has dramatically changed the way I look at the labor deployment process. It is impossible for us today to project ourselves without taking into account the health crisis and the needs it has generated. The social body is deficient. We will need to reinvent ourselves, tightrope walkers. Art is a space for minorities. It is a place that repairs without waiting. Without waiting for justice to be done, for legitimacy to be given. Since it agitates the black and the blue, the terrible and the ancient, the pathetic and the ideal, the barbaric and the wounded. It’s a social space of reunification that I find out of the ordinary, because nothing is binary there. Everything comes together in a collective gesture to make human aberration understandable.

And then comes the practice. The moment comes when the actor comes up against the four corners of a situation. New cartilage forms; with each role played, it is a new framework of soul that grows inside man. He experiences, welcomes, he literally opens up to otherness. I have the opportunity to work with amateur actors and I see what good they do for themselves by embodying other dimensions of themselves on stage. The deep joy when they feel this inexplicable bond of two actors who play together. An incredible way of getting to know the other, without knowing more, without knowing too much, while intimately encountering their mystery.
