Cachi exploded, a destination with prices for all pockets

The province has a destination “for all pockets”, as defined by the mayor of Cachi, Américo Liendro. Many of the tourists who arrived in Salta this extra long weekend chose the town of Vallisto to visit. Salteños also prefer it.

“Periodically we have meetings with all the actors that participate in tourism in Cachi and we reach an agreement to maintain prices that are for all pockets. That is why we invite all the locals to come and enjoy the best food, the best landscapes and the kindness of the people from Cache for this weekend and whenever they want,” said Liendro.

The town regularly receives tourists who began to arrive from abroad and nationals as well. However, there is still a lack of people from Salta, who do not take advantage of the proximity or the holidays. It must be said that Cachi is cheaper than Salta, and that is another advantage.

The one that centralizes all the information is the Tourism Office of the Municipality, which is located in front of the central square 9 de Julio, on Martín Miguel de Güemes avenue. In the office run by David Zuleta you can ask about everything, from where to stay, excursions, the prices of condiments, wines and even where and what to eat.

“There is everything to do and we have the information you need. There are horseback rides, visits to wineries, a UFO port, which is the most requested, walks through archaeological sites, viewpoints, ancient paths, bicycle rides. We have hotels for all tastes and the best gastronomy of the Valleys”, said Zuleta, proud of his people.

In the cheapest range is the possibility of municipal camping, where you pay 400 pesos per person plus $150 per tent; on a private plot you have to add 700 pesos more. An economic and tourist menu is around 600 pesos and in some cases eating in front of the square in a dining room on Benjamín Zorrilla you can get an abundant tourist menu for 500 pesos, served and cooked by Mrs. Gabriela.

Inside there is a climate of peace and spirituality that moves. The whole environment invites you to rest, slow down and enjoy the pleasant climate in the Calchaquí Valleys.

Two proposals to enjoy adventure and flavor

Along the ancestral paths of the indigenous cultures of Cachi, an incredible walk that can be done is to discover the vestiges of the pre-Inca culture, with an imposing and natural landscape as a framework.

To make the walk you have to get to Las Pailas by vehicle. During the trip you can see an incredible postcard made up of a great chain of hills and mountains, fields, vines, small houses and many stories. The route continues on foot towards the Patio de los Morteros. During the walk, different archaeological remains are discovered that are hidden in the immensity of the landscape. These are the remains of the main settlements that our pre-Inca past had. In the Las Pailas Archaeological Site you can appreciate all the great work that our ancestors did, materialized in irrigation works, houses and other functional spaces.

At the same time, you can see a large number of cacti, silent guardians of the heights. According to the Diaguita worldview, all natural elements had a reason for being, which is why the cacti were of the utmost importance since they had a precise meaning and an integral use. It is said that the natives used practically all the cardón, from its sap to its wood and thorns. Knowing the stories around the cacti, which are formed like an army that watches over us, is undoubtedly an unmissable experience.

The walk continues until you reach the Patio los Morteros, a unique place located in the Sacred City of Las Pailas. It is located exactly at the foot of the Nevado de Cachi. The imposing views and the history of the ancestors provide an unforgettable experience, like a trip back in time. This itinerary must be done with an authorized guide.

Wineries

The world of wine explains the flavors of the Valley. The first stop is at La Paya, where the Family Artisan Winery is located. In this place, the essence of organic high altitude wines is enjoyed.

It shows the history of a family that has been working for more than three generations in the elaboration of the traditional Malbec, a generous wine, full-bodied and dark in color. There are also wines made with Creole grapes, from very old vineyards that give the wine an authentic flavor.

In La Aguada, in El Algarrobal, the Puna Winery is visited. It produces red, rosé and white wines of great richness and style. The cultivated strains are Malbec, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Tempranillo and Torrontés. The height of the vineyards, the climate, the thermal amplitude, the ultraviolet rays of the area and the land, make its products have unique characteristics.

In the same area, Bodega Miraluna also offers good wines. This place began as a family business that grew over the years, so it currently also has a lodging service.

Finally, the Isasmendi Winery, in the Historic Center of Cachi, has guided tours to discover the richness of its history and taste the most delicious wines of the winery, internationally recognized.
