During the week, several activities of training, teaching, sharing of experiences, tributes… were carried out, to the satisfaction of the 1,292 choristers from all over the territory and their supervisors. Back in their regions, these beneficiaries will perpetuate the teachings received, by encouraging those around them to appropriate the religious and social values learned during their stay.

It was in an atmosphere of heavy rain that this spiritual week 2022 ended, also marking the 30th anniversary of the National Training Seminar for Choristers.

“To those brothers and sisters who have not been able to participate in this training, we could tell them that it is only a postponement; we understand them easily and we firmly believe that God will allow opportunities, and even if we have to travel there, if all the conditions are met, we can make them benefit from the same training”, a, at the closing of the seminar , urged the national coordinator of the national JAD (Youth of the Assemblies of God), Pastor Jean-Marie Badiel, representing the president of the general council of the Assemblies of God of Burkina Faso.

Pastor Jean-Marie Badiel gave many advices to the participants.

“To be first before doing. That is, to be true Christians, true disciples of the Lord, and to present praises that will be acceptable to God. I encourage them to lead a life in accordance with the will of God…”, launched the religious leader to the participants, to really live their faith.

Hence the satisfaction of the leader of the Youth of the Assemblies of God, Pastor Thomas Zongo, who congratulates and encourages these young choristers for the work done, for their commitment to the cause of praise, of adoration which directly touches the heart of God. He invites them to give more in their local church, looking forward to 2023 for a great gathering of capacity building, in the spirit of continuous improvement. Recalling that “praise is power”, Pastor Thomas Zongo greeted all the actors who worked for the success of this celebration.

The director of the national choir, Aimé Kiemdé, appreciates the enthusiasm and is now turning to actions to consolidate the achievements, in synergy with the heads of local structures through a program that will address the particular challenge of each region. “Given the national situation, we did not expect so many people. We exceeded a little last year, because we were 1,199 people against 1,292 this year. This means that we could have had beyond this number, if there was not the security deficit that we know, ”he appreciates.

According to the director of the national choir, the closing of this seminar activates a follow-up mechanism. “We are organized so that after the national structure that we are, there are in the regions, regional directors and committees, decentralized to the sub-regions down to the local churches. Monitoring is done through this mechanism; we have continuous meetings with the regional directors, to review everything that the regional choirs are going through (the achievements, the difficulties, the experiences…). So, after this national seminar, it is this stage that will be started with the decentralized structures”, indicated Mr. Kiemdé.

In a forward-looking perspective, he summarizes the difficulties encountered in the short preparation time for the seminar, in the intensity of the training (because several activities must be carried out during the week: singing training, conducting training, music theory training , panel, tribute day, etc.).

Before parting, the participants, through voluntary contributions, mobilized the sum of 500,000 CFA francs to support pastoralists displaced due to insecurity.

The day before the closing ceremony, participants and leaders of the denomination, through a dedicated ceremony, paid tribute to some sixty pioneers “for their pioneering work and their loyal services, their contribution and their loyal services, their material support and financial or for their regular participation in the training seminar for choristers”.

The closing ceremony was marked by praise and worship, an award ceremony for the Bible games, prayers, performances by choirs, etc.

Participant of the regional division of Nongr-Maasom, Michaël Domzogo, sixteenth participation, praises the merit of this edition as well. “Each time I come to an edition, I leave full of joy; because I learn a lot of things among my young brothers. This year was special, because it’s the 30th anniversary, God helped out and it was a real success,” says Michaël Domzogo.

Rosine Bamogo, who came from the Ziniaré region, her first participation, said she learned a lot, particularly through sharing experiences and good practices with elders and other participants. She intends to share everything she has acquired with those around her and has already turned her attention to the next training sessions to benefit more from the training sessions.

“I learned how to improve myself in vocal technique, in songs, in pedagogy to teach others; because when we leave here, we are expected to go and teach those who couldn’t come. So we learned how to lead (a choir, a group: editor’s note), how to read music theory, how to make people follow the direction. We learned a lot and as a leader in our church, we will now know how to lead groups, etc. It was a setting where the most experienced shared their knowledge with the less endowed”, for his part, confided Djibril Sanou from Boulmiougou sud, who says he is at the third participation in the training seminars.
