Arts, theatre, shows and music to celebrate National Day in Saudi Arabia

Riyadh: The celebration of Saudi Arabia’s 92nd National Day comes at a momentous moment in the nation’s history due to its remarkable journey of transformation and development.

Citizens and residents celebrate this day throughout the week, with events paying tribute to the Kingdom’s heritage, art and culture.

Riyadh

Riyadh celebrates Saudi National Day with a range of events and activities, including music, theater and a specially designed show by Cirque du Soleil.

In preparation, the main roads of the capital were adorned with hundreds of green national flags.

The sky will light up with fireworks in front of Plaza Al-Thaghr on September 23 from 9 p.m.

The Royal Saudi Air Force presents an air show with jets and civilian aircraft, which can be observed from Um Ajlan Park on September 22 and 23 from 4:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.

The Royal Guard will parade at the Riyadh Front to the sound of the National Anthem played by a military band, before a procession of vintage cars, on September 23 from 9 p.m. to 10 p.m.

Admission is free for the fireworks, air show and parade of the Royal Guard.

Additionally, Jump Saudi organizes a two-day show jumping competition. Tickets cost 57.50 Saudi Riyals (SAR) (1 SAR = 0.27 Euro) and can be obtained online at Riyadh Platinum or Enjoy Saudi via the General Entertainment Authority website. The event takes place on September 22 and 23 from 4 p.m. to 1 a.m.

This year, the Cirque national presents a Cirque du Soleil show, created for the occasion, entitled “The Wealth of a Nationat the Princess Nourah bint Abdulrahman University Theatre, September 21-24, 8 p.m. to midnight.

Arab musicians Ahlam and Abady al-Johar will perform on September 23 on the Abo Baker Salim stage from 9 p.m. to midnight.

The Ministry of Interior is holding its own festivities under the slogan “Pride of the Nation” at the Riyadh Front from September 21-24. The event also features a live orchestra and 12 interactive pavilions.

A festival is held at Grassy Park in the Diplomatic Quarter from September 21-24. It features heritage shows, craft exhibits, a musical fountain, action games for kids and food stalls.

The auditorium of the AMC-2 cinema presented a live 90-minute comedy show on September 22 from 8 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., with three international artists and one Saudi artist.

Jeddah

The General Entertainment Authority held several events for citizens and residents of Jeddah on the country’s 92nd National Day, including fireworks, military air and sea shows, music concerts and interactive festivals .

The city’s coastline will be illuminated with a massive seven-minute fireworks display on September 23 in the Jeddah Season parking lot, which should be visible from anywhere in the city. This show will be one of 17 similar shows across the country.

For three days, from September 18 to 20, residents of Jeddah were able to watch an air show near the Hilton Hotel on the Corniche starting at 4:30 p.m.

Residents of Jeddah will also be able to watch a military parade at 5 p.m. on National Day, organized by the Ministry of Interior on the Jeddah Art Promenade. Fireworks will illuminate the venue from 9 p.m. on September 22, 23 and 24.

Additionally, the Jeddah Art Promenade presents a sound and light show on September 23. There will also be a Saudi folklore show from 6 p.m. to midnight on September 22, 23 and 24. Besides, “Layali Watan” events and activities will be organized during the same period.

The Jeddah Art Promenade will be adorned with a mosaic wall featuring various pieces of art on September 22, 23 and 24, showcasing the Kingdom’s history.

The Promenade will also have a National Day corner, with a photography kiosk and an exclusive show for children.

The venue will host several music concerts, with Saud Sanan on September 23, singer Dukhuon on the same day, and Ahmed Ashour on September 24.

Egyptian singer Angham and her compatriot Ahmed Saad will perform at the Benchmark Theater on King’s Road at 9.30pm on September 24. According to the ticketing website, all VVIP tickets have been sold out.

Festivals are also held from 5 p.m. to midnight at Prince Majed Park in the city, from the 21st to the 24th.

Eastern Province

The Eastern Province is putting on a series of entertaining events for all ages to celebrate the Kingdom’s 92nd National Day, including live performances, fireworks, and sea and air shows.

An anthology of festivities including folk dances and musical fountain shows take place in King Abdullah Park in Dammam over four days from September 21 to 24 from 5 p.m. to midnight.

Artists will stroll through the park, dressed in traditional outfits. Several action games and gifts are provided for families. The event is free and open to children of all ages.

Families are encouraged to wear traditional attire for events held throughout the week.

Dammam will host the annual fireworks show which will be visible from the Corniche on September 23 from 9 p.m. Free entry and open to all.

Eighteen cities across the Kingdom will showcase fireworks alongside Dammam, including Riyadh, Jeddah, Abha, Tabuk and Al-Ahsa.

The nearby town of Alkhobar will also host a maritime spectacle led by the Royal Naval Forces on September 23 from 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. on the corniche.

After the maritime show, the Corniche seafront will host an air show on September 25 and 26 from 4 p.m. to 5.30 p.m.

Additionally, the King Abdullah Cultural Center in Jubail is hosting live concerts with some of the most popular regional artists, including Moudi Alshamrani, Sultan Khalifa, Shamma Hamdan and Khadijah Moath, from September 21-24.

Children are not allowed to attend concerts. Tickets are available on the Enjoy Saudi website.

Southern and Northern regions

The southern and northern regions of the Kingdom are preparing to celebrate the 92nd National Day on September 23 with various shows and concerts, including A Homeland Salute by the Royal Saudi Air Force.

On September 23 from 9 p.m., a gigantic five-minute fireworks display will be organized in several cities.

In Jouf, in the north of the Kingdom, the inhabitants of Sakaka will be able to gather at the King Abdullah cultural center to watch the show.

In the Northern Borders region, Arar viewers can see it at the city’s Water Tower Park.

In the southwest, it can be seen in the Al-Nahdah district of Najran, and in Abha in the Asir, they at Sama Abha Park.

Activities include air and sea shows.
