Arnoldo Mondadori – Books to change the world”, the first docu-fiction to tell the life of a great Italian publisher, interweaving fiction narration, archival documents and interviews with important witnesses, tells the entrepreneurial and human story of Arnoldo Mondadori, played by Michael Placido: childhood marked by deprivation, the beginnings as a boy in a printing shop, the meeting with his wife Andreina Monicelli – played by Valeria Cavalli – and finally maturity and success as a publisher, which will also involve the conflictual relationship with his eldest son Alberto, played by Flavio Parenti. They enrich the cast Brennus Placidoin the role of Arnoldo Mondadori as a boy, Rodolfo Corsatus in those of Raffaele Mattioli e Stefano Skalkatos in those of Giorgio Mondadori.

Filming of the docu-fiction began in Rome and continued on Lake Maggiore and in Turin with the support of Film Commission Turin Piedmont. Under the patronage of City of Turin, Municipality of Tivoli and City of Verbania.
Many Piedmontese locations and several local workers involved in filming which took place in September 2021, also thanks Film Commission Turin Piedmont, Federalberghi Turin and Federalberghi Verbano Cusio Ossola: the City of Verbania hosted the troupe inside the Villa l’Eremitaggio, which then continued production at the Museo della Tipografia di Don Bosco in Valdocco, while in Turin the Galleria Subalpina, the Cinema Teatro Romano, Piazza Carlo Alberto and the National Museum of the Risorgimento were the backdrop for the scenes with a 60s atmosphere.

A story that inevitably intertwines with the events of the entire country, covering a narrative arc that starts from the last decade of the nineteenth century through the Fascist period and the Second World War, up to the years of reconstruction and the economic boom, with the he conception in 1965 of the Oscar Mondadori, the innovative paperback books sold at newsstands, which will represent a real revolution in the Italian publishing market, making reading accessible to all.

The realization makes use of the documentary narration of the contributions of illustrious witnesses, from the nephew Luca Formenton, President of the Arnoldo and Alberto Mondador Foundationi, who collaborated on the project, to the former director of the publishing house, Gian Arturo Ferrariby the writer Gianrico Carofiglio to the publisher Geneva Bompianiand again, the journalist Pierluigi Battistathe literary critic Marino Sinibaldithe grandson Roberta Mondadoridaughter of his brother Bruno, e Ferruccio Parazzoliformer head of the press office of the publishing house, interspersed with precious original interviews of the time.
