Goes out on October 8 for Finisterre “And so everything sings: dialogues and music for a possible future”, the first cd book from MishMashthe story between notes and words of a 25-year journey in music that saw the Italian band meet sounds and voices from every corner of the world at the crossroads of four faiths (Buddhism, Christianity, Judaism and Islam).
A point of arrival and at the same time a new departure for the historical formation of MishMash which, for its 25 years of career, publishes an album full of insights, which brings together geographically distant soundscapes and builds new spaces of spirituality around Mediterranean sounds , Eastern and Middle Eastern sounds, with arrangements that recreate the “vagabond” flavor typical of these repertoires.
In full style MishMash (a term that in various languages contains meanings linked to the concept of “mixing”), the cd book “And so everything sings: dialogues and music for a possible future”, through 12 tracks and the accompanying book, gives back to music its true a resource for dialogue, where contamination becomes a distinctive sound experience, able to overcome any geographical and cultural division.
Unique group of its kind, MishMash, since its foundation, it has united four musicians belonging to 4 different religious faiths – Buddhism, Christianity, Judaism and Islam in a path between popular traditions and interculture. They are Marco Valabrega on violin and viola, Nicola Pignatiello on guitar, Bruno Zoia on double bass and Mohssen Kasirossafar on Persian percussion and, together with them, the Italian-Turkish singer Yasemin Sannino.
“And so everything sings: dialogues and music for a possible future”, however, is not just the story of the journey seen through the eyes of MishMash, but also words, poems and collaborations of those who have accompanied them on this journey over the years: Edith Bruck, writer, poet, translator, director and witness of the Shoah; Don Matteo Zuppi, Italian Catholic cardinal and archbishop; the singer-songwriter Max Manfredi; the writer Pasquale Troìa. In the cd book, full of contributions, there is also a special dedication to Domenico “Mimmo” Ascione – founding member of the group, who died prematurely on August 15, 2017 – with a song he recorded before his death.
“We headed towards the East” MishMash declare, “from the very beginning, and we started from a traditional Greek melody that invited us to go forward on that path of discovery of sounds, words and people that we have always tried to follow, opening eyes, ears and heart on the corners of the world. Sometimes a sound is enough and you are already listening to the others ”.
Not only cd book, but also live experience, the release of “And so everything sings: dialogues and music for a possible future” will be accompanied from an autumn minitour from the suburbs to the heart of Rome, through a show of music, dance, acting, poetry and talk – with the support of the Ministry of Culture as a supporting body and of Roma Capitale, as part of the programming cycle “Live shows in the municipalities of the Metropolitan City of Rome Capital”.
On stage with MishMash (Marco Valabrega on violin and viola, Nicola Pignatiello on guitar, Bruno Zoia on double bass and Mohssen Kasirossafar on Persian percussion)artists from different cultures and ethnic groups who, using different languages, combine their voices: the dancers Elisa Scapeccia and Emanuela Vecchio, the singer Yasemin Sannino, the violist Daniele Valabrega and the actors Esper Russo and Tiziana Biscontini who will give voice to the words of Edith Bruck, Don Matteo Zuppi, Max Manfredi, Pasquale Troìa and the musicians of MishMash themselves.
THE MishMash they will bring “And so everything sings” the October 1ston the occasion of the release of the first single, in Capranica Prenestina (18:00, Sala del Consiglio Comunale) and on October 8release date of the cd book, in Canale Monterano (at 9.00 pm Maurizio Fiorani Theater; at 8.30 pm there will be the award ceremony of the “The places of dialogue”) and then continue on Monday October 17 in Rome at Logical Space (6.30 pm, via dei Santissimi Quattro 27) and throughout the autumn in places and spaces of culture in Italy. Wednesday 2nd Novemberinstead, MishMash in concert at 20:30 at the Pitigliani Jewish Culture Center in Romewhich has opened its completely renovated concert hall, to host artistic and musical events open to the public outside.
