5 series we can’t wait to see on Club illico in the next year

Autumn is just around the corner, and you only dream of cocooning evenings devouring series and films, propped up on your sofa? Take a look at Club illico, and you will certainly be satisfied! Videotron’s platform will offer, over the next year, five anticipated sequels, eight major new series and three original films (for a total investment of $400 million in content!)

What innovations are we watching, what feedback are we waiting for, what will people talk about? Overview.

The night Laurier Gaudreault woke up

We’ve been hoping for this one for a long time! The illustrious Xavier Dolan offers us here his first Quebec series, a psychological thriller carried by actors of a high caliber like Julie LeBreton, Patrick Hivon, Eric Bruneau, Magalie Lepine BlondeauJulianne Côté, Sandrine Bisson, Michel LaperriereSylvie Drapeau and Xavier Dolan himself. The night Laurier Gaudreault woke up is the screen adaptation of the play of the same title by playwright Michel Marc Bouchard. It is the story of a family, of a great friendship, of destinies turned upside down during a fateful night… and, 30 years later, of a quest for truth where old grudges, accounts to be settled and not- say resurface.

The first images reveal a slightly gloomy, twisted and intense atmosphere… just like Dolan’s style! In 5 episodes. From November 24.

About Anthony

A fiction of pure emotion, we are told, where we don’t necessarily cry because it’s sad, and where we don’t necessarily laugh because it’s funny. Comedian and author Cathleen Rouleau, in a relationship with producer Sylvain Parent-Bédard, was inspired by her daily life with her stepson, a boy with special needs, to expose his reality with tenderness, humor and realism. The Antoine of the series, a child with multiple disabilities, “governs” the life of everyone around him; we will see both the light and the difficult sides that his condition entails in the household. And that’s not counting the little sores of the rest of the family, that the new wife of the dad will learn to tame over the days. The “real” Antoine who inspired his mother-in-law Cathleen also appears in the work he himself instigated. The talented Podz directs “Ferraris” of the caliber of Claude Legault, Micheline Bernard, Fanny Mallette and Sylvain Marcel. From January 19, 2023. We were telling you about this exciting project here, here and here.

Megantic

The poster alone Megantic, showing two firefighters in action in a terrible blaze, their faces covered in soot, is disturbing. We are dealing here with a choral series, each episode of which is inspired by a victim or a survivor of the Lac-Mégantic rail tragedy, which occurred in 2013. prolific producers Sophie Lorain and Alexis Durand Brault (who also does Megantic) swear to have approached this delicate subject with humility, delicacy and authenticity. We understand that we will not be sensationalist for the simple pleasure of being one, even if the subject obviously invites spectacular images. And those that journalists saw on Monday are masterful, worthy of a Hollywood film. How do you overcome a deadly event of such magnitude, how do you survive? The people of Mégantic collaborated on the production – of their own free will, and even insisted that the project materialize – to help the public better understand the great drama they went through. Julie Ringuette and Bruno Marcil, among others, personify important characters, but no “headliner” dominates the whole; Mégantic’s star is Mégantic!

You can’t get over a story like that. We survive. We cling to those who remain “, we hear in the trailer of Megantic. Show a slice of history in a sincere way, beyond the headlines of news bulletins, in a great duty of memory: this is the mission that the creators have embarked on. From February 16, 2023.

Pearls

One of the feathers Leo, Érika Soucy, ratifies this scenario with a high progesterone content, funny, a bit raw and very much of its time, if we are to believe the samples projected on Monday. Bianca Gervais embodies the role of her dreams, which she has always awaited: Stéphanie, a modern woman, a brilliant single mother, a fighter, in a story where female solidarity takes precedence over a background of mental load. The myth of superwoman will take some here for her cold, when our overworked heroine decides to momentarily abandon her maternal responsibilities to think of herself and escape for a while. Upon her return, her small village on the North Shore will look at her severely. “Pearls” is the nickname that Stéphanie gives to her two daughters, the treasures of her life. To see in the spring of 2023. Note that an actress we had lost sight of for a while will be featured in Pearls; find out who here.

The rebels

Pier-Luc Funk and Sarah-Jeanne Labrosse will not pilot the Mammoth evening this year, but the duo of friends did not let themselves down: the two actors are currently recording The rebelsa creation by Anita Rowan (O’) produced by Fabienne Larouche, Michel Trudeau and Aetios, which promises to be action-packed, interweaving politics and social issues. It seems that these revolted thirsty for equality will keep us in suspense. The lawyer Éléonore (Labrosse) and the journalist Jacob (Funk), two idealists fully invested in the job, struggle there to shake the institutions in place and make justice and truth triumph. Status of refugees, DYP, hospital system, violence against women, dilapidation of the education system: these are some of the themes that will be addressed in The rebels. Filming even took place on Roxham Road, under the supervision of the excellent filmmaker Louis Choquette (The honorable, among others). François Papineau, Anglesh Major, Nathalie Coupal, Mylène Mackay and Paul Ahmarani appear in the credits. To be seen in the summer of 2023.

We will also take a look at…

Paradise Motel, by director Sophie Deraspe, whose plot revolves around a near-death experience. A person identified as clinically dead will come back to life. Mystery and spirituality will intertwine there. With Nahéma Ricci, Stéphane Gagnon, Gildor Roy and Larissa Corriveau. In 6 episodes. Watch this Thursday, October 27.

Ixe-13with Marc-André Grondin, in a text by the gifted Gilles Desjardins (Lies, The countries above), and directed by Yan Lanouette Turgeon (The impostor, Epidemic) where of course we revisit the plot of spy novels Ixe-13, by Pierre Saurel, which appeared in the 1940s, 1950s and 1960s, as well as the film of the same title by Jacques Godbout, which dates back 50 years. A period and adventure saga, involving a troop of spies, that’s something to pique curiosity. Julie Le Breton, Marianne Fortier, Madeleine Péloquin and Vincent Leclerc are also there. Currently filming and to be seen somewhere in 2023.

Surprising Detective. Here is another crime fiction, apparently very ambitious, which has just entered development. We still know very little about the subject, except that the detective sergeant in question will be located in the Magdalen Islands, where he will have to elucidate a brutal murder. The texts are by Marie-Eve Bourrassa and Maureen Martineau, directed by Yannick Savard (trapped). Will have to stay tuned!

Like chicken heads. The Télé-Québec youth comedy, starring Mélanie Pilon and David Savard, will be available on Club illico in 2023. We meet the completely upside-down Babin-Bibeau clan and their three teenagers with completely opposite temperaments!

We will be eagerly awaiting feedback from…

The flaw, whose third (and final!) season will arrive on November 9. Sébastien Ricard, Gilbert Sicotte and Lynda Johnson join the cast. Céline (Isabel Richer) will have to finish facing her family demons through a story of two murders set in Estrie.

We, whose 12 episodes of the second season will land on December 8. We are talking about a much more intimate chapter, which clearly illustrates that the twenties ” is not just a long quiet party “, indicates the management of Club illico.

Portrait-robot. As of January 5, 2023, Rachel Graton resumes her role as judicial portraitist Ève Garance, whose squad is still carrying out high-tension investigations. Ludivine Reding, Jean-Michel Anctil, David La Haye and Kathleen Fortin, among others, will play episodic roles in the various investigations. Club illico has already ordered a third season.

Leo. Already a fifth (and last, damn!) lap for our friend Léo (Fabien Cloutier) and his band from Walton! Do you doubt the success of Fabien Cloutier’s comedy? Know that all the episodes combined of the first four seasons of Leo have been viewed no less than 11 million times on Club illico. Video-on-demand service executives talk about Leo as a cultural phenomenon. From March 29, 2023.

The complicated life of Léa Olivier. No, the loves of our beautiful Léa are not simpler even if her adolescence advances! Alex (Karl Antoine Suprice), Thomas (Thomas Delorme)… His heart is still swinging! And the dilemmas of career choices that are starting to get in the way! Léa will need her best friend more than ever, the grumpy but endearing Marilou (Léanne Désilets). Expected release in spring 2023.

Black Lake. Three weeks after the events of the first part, we wonder about the identity of this senate which governs werewolves. Mélissa Désormeaux Poulin is always at the center of the horror suspense. Coming later in 2023.

Club illico is also betting heavily on cinema. In addition to niagara, by Guillaume Lambert, which will arrive on the platform on November 3, less than two months after its theatrical release (on September 16), young audiences will delight in a new opus in the famous franchise of Tales for All. In firm coconut, resourceful 11-year-old kids set up a small laying hen farm. Young talents Oscar Desgagnés and Joey Bélanger, among others, are well supported by renowned stars like Benoit Brière and Steve Laplante. The film will be unveiled next spring, probably around spring break. Finally, Club illico is investing in the next film by Denys Arcand, which for the moment bears the title of Will, where an elderly man will question his faith in humanity in an age of political correctness and media storms.

Interestingly, the movie Alineby Valerie Lemercierinspired by the life of Celine Dion, is the most popular feature film on Club illico since its debut last January.
