đź”´ Conspiracy News #47.2022

The news of the week deciphered by Conspiracy Watch (week from 21/11/2022 to 27/11/2022).

WITCH HUNT. Two of the most influential figures in the complosphere, Xavier Azalbert, site director FranceEveningand Idriss Aberkane, a lecturer and youtuber who has been repeatedly singled out for his travesties of reality, have been instructing their communities in the trial of verification journalism for a few days. These are cumulative hours of videos that have been put online in this sense in recent times. Without counting the innumerable comments generated by this campaign of intimidation which tries to give to a collection of pseudo-revelations the appearances of a real Watergate of the fact checking (source : Conspiracy WatchNovember 26, 2022).

COMMON SENSE. The antivax and covido-skeptic collective Common sense was dismissed from all its requests by justice and condemned to the expenses in the lawsuits which it had committed against… Bill Gates. He estimated “having been deliberately and maliciously denigrated” by billionaire philanthropist in front of millions of viewers. In question, an interview broadcast in the television news of France 2, on May 6, in which Gates reacted to the delusional conspiracy accusations against him. He had said: “It’s very strange, I didn’t expect it. I’ve spent billions on vaccines to save millions of lives. And now they’ve completely turned the tide saying I make billions killing people. In a way, it’s quite humorous, but it’s also problematic. It discourages people who might take the vaccine and it’s our best tool to prevent deaths. From this point of view, it is something tragic. I would like the facts to come out: this is a great vaccine and we are trying to do our best to save lives. » The Bon Sens association had at no time been cited by Bill Gates but had filed a complaint against him, considering itself targeted by his remarks. It should be noted that three figures of the antivax complosphere, Xavier Azalbert, Christian Perronne and Silvano Trottaall three founding members of Bon Sens, had also filed a complaint on their behalf against Bill Gates (source: ReleaseNovember 25, 2022).

MARTIN WONNER. The former deputy of Bas-Rhin Martine Wonder, a psychiatrist by profession and an antivax figure, was suspended Friday, November 25 by the Council of the Order of Physicians of the Grand Est for a period of one year. The former MP was criticized for her remarks on vaccines and on wearing a mask during the Covid pandemic, but also for having called, during a demonstration against the health pass, to “besiege parliamentarians” and to “invade their offices”. Martine Wonner intends to appeal this decision (source: France InfoNovember 25, 2022).

THE REPUBLICANS. CĂ´te-d’Or senator Alain Houpert (LR) was recently banned from practicing his profession for several months because of his statements on the Covid crisis. The radiologist is not the only one, at Les RĂ©publicains, to make remarks flirting with conspiracy. Senator Sylvie Goy-Chavent relayed an article by FranceEveningmaking it clear that the truth begins “to go out on vaccines against Covid”. Senator Laurence Muller-Bronn, for her part, organized meetings with actors from the covid-skeptical sphere such as Louis Fouche. Let the senators “free of their words” is for the moment the line that seems to prevail within the party (source: Julien Pain/TwitterNovember 25, 2022).

GIORGIA MELONI. A video by Giorgia Meloni has circulated widely on social networks, in which the President of the Council of Ministers of Italy attacks France through the CFA franc, which she accuses of promoting the looting of Africa and misery in the Sahel . The accusatory charge of Meloni, which recalls the attacks of certain propagandists claiming pan-Africanism, in the forefront of which Kemi Sebais woven with errors, as a thread by Simon Laplace conveniently demonstrates (source: Simon Laplace/TwitterNovember 21, 2022).

TWITTER. While, since its takeover by Elon Musk, the micro-blogging platform has fired thousands of content moderators and rolled out a paid certification system, accounts that misinform about health issues have started spreading their messages to a wider audience than ever. Several anti-vaccination accounts, with tens of thousands of subscribers, can indeed now obtain a blue badge of certification by paying a sum of 7.99 dollars. A certification that would have the effect of reinforcing the credibility of the false information they share… (source: The GuardianNovember 21, 2022).

IRENE GROSJEAN. The controversial naturopath Irene Grosjean announced, during a live with the conspiratorial videographer Hayssam Hoballahthat she was going to open a center in Morocco to ” cure “ paralysis, cancer, AIDS and… unemployment. On this plot of desert planted with fruit trees, we go, she explains, “relearning health”, “we can pick, we can make our life the paradise for which nature has given us” (source : The Extractor/TwitterNovember 20, 2022).

KANYE WEST. Under the charge of anti-Semitism, rapper Kanye West appeared with the far-right activist Nick Fuentes, white supremacist and notorious anti-Semite who hails Hitler and makes Putin applaud during his lectures. The two men dined a few days ago with Donald Trump at Mar-a-Lago, the Florida residence of the ex-president. This invitation earned him a shower of criticism (source: 20 minutes, November 26, 2022). Note that Nick Fuentes also said he wanted “return to the time when [les femmes] were burned alive” (source : The Women’s Journal, July 18, 2022). Kanye West’s recent anti-Semitic tirades have shed light on an African-American spiritual current little known to the general public, the “Black Hebrew Israelites”, on which historian Jacob Dorman takes a nuanced look (source: ReleaseNovember 23, 2022).

VIOLENCE. There was a time when conspiracy theories, confined to the confines of the Internet, were mostly a smile. Today, they permeate certain dominant discourses and motivate acts of great violence, such as the Christchurch massacre or the murderous assault on the Capitol on January 6, 2021. Analysts Erica Barbarossa and Isabela Bernardo have examined this evolution , by studying in particular the case of David DePape, Paul Pelosi’s attacker : “From first exposure to these theories to the occurrence of a violent attack, there is a process that involves conditioning the person’s psyche and reframing their worldview in which violence is not just a possibility, but a necessity for survival” (source : GNETNovember 23, 2022).

ANTHONY FAUCI. Infectiologist Anthony Fauci was part of the Covid-19 task force set up by Donald Trump. In June 2021, under the US Freedom of Information Act, numerous emails from the doctor were made public, testifying to the uncertainties of the administration and health agencies at the start of the crisis. A significant part of these documents, however, contained censored passages. Following a new legal process, some of these emails were sent “in the clear”. Made public on November 22 on Twitter, by journalist Jimmy Tobias, they reveal an Anthony Fauci far removed from the conspirator fantasized by his detractors… (source: ReleaseNovember 24, 2022).

BRAZIL. Supporters of Jair Bolsonaro were filmed in Porto Alegre making light signals towards the sky, with the lamp of their mobile phone. Wearing Brazilian flags and national football team shirts, they intended to ask the aliens to ” save “ their country by overthrowing Lula, the new Brazilian president (source: France InfoNovember 22, 2022).

MEDIA EDUCATION. With the support of the Ministry of Culture, the NGO Libraries Without Borders (BSF) coordinated collaborative work, in 2021, in conjunction with twenty public libraries, to create an educational kit dedicated to the fight against disinformation and the Media and Information Education (EMI). This kit is intended for the staff of all public libraries in France, but also for teachers and mediators, offering free access resources and activity sheets to raise public awareness of this topic.

JUVING-BRUNET. Friday, November 25, the blogger Mike Borowski reported, in the conditional, that the ex-captain of the gendarmerie Alexandre Juving-Brunet, figure of the far-right conspiracy, would have been taken into custody. As we indicated on Conspiracy Watch in October, the latter launched an alternative currency to the euro, the “Franc Libre”. In mid-November, he would have managed to encourage nearly 4,300 subscribers for a total amount of more than 1.3 million euros. Saturday, November 19, Alexandre Juving-Brunet took part in the “Feast of the real country” organized by the fundamentalist Catholic organization Civitas. He announced the creation of the “Banque de France libre” and the “Foncière financière libre” or “FFL”, described as “an investment fund dedicated to the financing and deployment” of its alternative currency. In a speech with apocalyptic, seditious and conspiratorial overtones, Juving-Brunet declares himself “at war against the Satanism of the Western globalist elite”, “against the so-called global financial powers”deep state“” and “against all nations infiltrated by this satanic globalist elite and their agents pouring on the world disease, famines and artificially created wars to maintain their control over humanity.” He also announces his intention to use “all the weapons necessary for victory: monetary weapon […] and tomorrow, cultural, legal, political and finally coercive weapons with the Free French Forces” (source: Conspiracy Watch/TwitterNovember 27, 2022).
